A new combo
Santa's come early - kind of. I have new plants awaiting planting.
One small area of garden at the front hasn't worked. It's tucked into a corner of the house. To begin with the gaura plants flowered tall and upright. But they firmly believe that they're ground cover.
The rest of front gardens are pretty much alpine so I discussed with my love designer making this bit alpine too. I hadn't anticipated changing it quite so soon. Sometimes a specific plant selection appears in plant nurseries and it's best to just so it.
The taller green chappy is a NZ native Snow Totara (Podocarpus nivalis). Before you get all excited, it only growa to 50cm high. They're wonderful and are often in sub-alpine areas or lower. I'm very excited to have another totara. :-)
The low brown/green chap is another NZ native, Coprosma Flat Freddy. Yes, it will be affectionately known as Fat Freddy and will compliment a different coprosma planted nearby.
The silver plant is Helicrysum retortum. I think it's South African in origin and sometimes called Strawflower. It has silvery foliage and white paper daisy like flowers in summer.
I won't be doing the planting late next week but I'm hoping that I can assist.
Today's gratitude: For an excellent session with my physio. I'm making good progress and have new exercises.
