Clinger
The Tufted Titmouse is a member of the “clinger” bird group. Why? They do not require a perch at feeders. Others in this group: finches, nuthatches, chickadees and woodpeckers • FYI, this clinger should not be confused with the other Klinger in case you’re a M*A*S*H fan ;) • After two days of heavy rain we were curious about the impact on the nearby river, the Kennebec. The boat landing was our first stop. The river had spilled its banks flooding the wood pilings and lawn area. The seagulls seemed quite amused with their expanded swimming hole. The tidal river was running fast moving lots of storm debris south towards the Atlantic. Logs and branches sped by • Next, we drove a few miles north to see parking areas under water, vehicles not present • Locals consider these routine mishaps. It’s what happens after too much rain. It also serves as a gentle reminder of how powerful and ruthless this river can be • In our 20 years living here we’ve witnessed some horrific flooding from both water and ice. Ruined vehicles, impassable roadways, crushed smelt camps, damaged businesses and homes. Thankfully never a loss of human life • Be well, blip family!
