Romania in Shawlands
I thought I would get a head start by posting off Christmas parcels well before the rush, so I walked to the post office mid-afternoon. The streets were just as slippery as they had been in the morning, and the queue was about twenty folk deep. I had left the brown wrapping paper in my Morrison’s trolley so had to make do with some wall paper I found – helpfully left in the flat by the previous owner. Sellotape was useless and I had to resort to duct tape which is notoriously difficult to cut without the stickiness transferring to the scissors. I admire those people who wrap parcels with care and love. It was a relief to get rid of them.
After a very long time outside and then inside the post office I wondered down to Shawlands Cross and then back home via Kilmarnock Road where I came across the new Romanian ‘supermarket’ which is my blip. I think it opened last week – what a gem, I would have liked to have blipped the meats, pastries and delicatessen section however it was quite busy and I was reticent about taking a photo. So the blip is the far corner, I’m not sure what they intend doing with the table, just one at the moment, and chairs – perhaps serve coffee when the level 4 restrictions are lifted. Well worth a visit.
