Forteviot Churchyard
Today, On a cold Winter morning, but with sunshine making the frosty grass glitter, I said goodbye to a lovely kind and special lady, my friend and neighbour Barbara.
With Covid restrictions it wasn’t the service it would have been but for me, it was lovely, and I think Barbara would have approved of it. The church is in the village of Forteviot in the The countryside near where her and her husband Bob and their two girls farmed up until 1986 when they retired to the OC. An intimate ceremony with Just family and close friends there to pay our respects and share memories of a much loved lady.
Elspeth her daughter had organised music and at the end of the service was a beautiful haunting song by Runrig, - not sure Barbara would have known it but the words were perfect.
It’s been almost a month since she died but with the girls both contracting Covid at the hospital it was postponed till they could be there. As the minister said, Barbara was born just as the Spanish Flu was ending and left this earth during another pandemic.
Farewell lovely lady, you may be gone but there is a special place in my heart for you always.
Goodness, I see one year ago today I had a blip of Barbara when I had popped in to visit her!https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2648649616915956069
