Red Squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris)

It was barely light by 8:30 when I filled the feeders and put out some hazelnuts for the squirrels.  Mid morning I looked out and saw a Woodpigeon more or less filling the bird table.  Suddenly it was joined by a Red Squirrel.  Neither were happy!   The Squirrel managed to get round the pigeon and snatch a nut.

At this time of the year they take them away and stash them as a source of winter food.  I confidently expect the garden to turn into a hazel grove one day.  As it wandered round the garden deciding where it was going to hide it  I managed to get the camera and get this shot.
