Sunbeams

A village or a hamlet?

The family live in a very small community at the end of a cut-de-sac which I  have always called a hamlet but it is in fact a village as it has a church (hidden behind the trees).  The difference is that a village has a core building or buildings such as a church or/and an inn whereas a hamlet has neither.  So a hamlet could be larger than a village but usually vice versa.

It was a very dark morning until the sun came out.  Collected the newspaper and posted the start of the Christmas cards at the village shop in the village the other side of us.  Then drove down to T's to collect the dog as he and K had gone out for the day and I was at nursery school.  A walk this afternoon and telephone calls in the evening.

Extra: the lane down to the village
