Forty Years

In 1980 I went round the world on HMS Antrim, as the deployment came to an end the Iran-Iraq war started.
Our deployment was extended and we were diverted to the Straits of Hormuz to ‘patrol & protect’. It was hot, sunny and at times the days could drag. At the time we supported Southampton General Hospital so a Flight Deck Fair was organised to raise money.
Today’s photograph, taken during December 1980, show ‘Andy’ Anderson, Pete Chisholm and myself operating a One Armed Bandit. Each of us had a sack with assorted fruit and vegetables inside, for 10p a go we simultaneously produce one item each, three of a kind got you a prize.

Great Days - Great Friends
