What a top day. A very warm and cosy night with all warmth tent measures being very successful. Several hours of morning bimbling including sausage, black pudding and egg breakfast then we set forth for a walk. Decided against taking swimming stuff, I think in retrospect the wrong decision but you can’t go back. Fabulous walk along the Thames, admiring all the house boats, found a fine one for sale though and got quite carried away with how wonderful it would be. Then we sat on the river bank with hot chocolate, brandy and iced mince pies (like Bakewell tarts but with mince pie underneath- a true discovery!). The river looked beautiful and the sun was shining, it was a magical hour or so, including watching a swimming bird catching a fish.

Back to our camp for soup, toasties, wine and nonsense chat until it got dark. Top all round.
