Swan lake

Oh, yeah, it's a lake swan, or more precisely a mute swan.

See the larger version

A beautiful afternoon at St Michel de la Grave in The Tarn et Garonne departement, where the Tarn and the Garonne river form a confluence and a 400 odd hectare lake.

Some of the things I saw but was too slow to photograph:

2 red squirrels
6 Kingfishers
Lots of grey herons
3 green woodpeckers
1 black woodpecker
4 Great crested grebes
7 deer
3 buzzards
1 osprey
lots of egrets
and probably lots I didn't even see ...

On the other side of the lake, which will be about a 9km walk, there are herons nests high up in the trees and, according to a walker I spoke to, an ospreys nest.

This is a haven for wildlife, a really beautiful place and so peaceful.

I'll be back ...
