Bowknife
Doing a product shoot today in my basement "studio" for My friends at The American Bowknife http://thebowknife.com/. These guys were my neighbors at the Peters Valley Craft Show last October.
As it was a product shoot and particularly one involving food I made sure I made a special camera profile for Lightroom from a RAW image taken of a color chart under strobe lighting setup in the basement this has helped make the colors really accurate and makes the food look fresh rather than awkward not quite right look you sometimes get shooting food that is not at all appetising!
This shot I like because of the way the juices from the pepper have formed little droplets along the blade.
The low depth of field is intentional to make sure the viewer realizes the shot is about the knife not about the peppers themselves.
Some of these pics are going to be printed at 30 inch by 20 inch posters to put up around their booth at shows. It can get quite crowded as Eileen does a lot of demos of the knives and choppers, so people need to know from the shots that are selloing knives and boards, and not wander off thinking its the foods thats for sale...
Well at least thats the intention anyways... Make it look appetising without making it TOO much about the food :-)
