Distant Couple

I’m assuming they’re apart together
- that one’s not stalking the other.
 
I feel they’re married
though they could be sister and brother
 
or a grown-up son
with his elderly mother.
 
They’re too far away to be sure
of anything. Maybe he’s
 
just a hanger-on, desperately dreaming
of becoming her lover.
