Spokes Ride to South Queensferry

There haven't been very many Spokes Rides this year. The ride in March was cancelled because of the weather, so there were two before lockdown. I have managed to lead 5 rides since then, the last two restricted to 7 people. The December ride has further limitations as in Scotland we are not permitted to leave the Council area. Fortunately Edinburgh is quite large, and so I take the ride to South Queensferry.

It is a cold morning, but there is blue sky and sunshine. To extend the ride a little bit, the ride first goes down to West Granton to follow the coastal path to Cramond. Extra shows the tidal walkway that leads out to Cramond Island. Then cycle inland to Cramond Brig, then to Dalmeny and South Queensferry, where we have lunch in a café.

After lunch, we cycle down to Hawes Pier from where the main blip photo of the Forth Bridge is taken. Then the ride goes up a steep path to take the Railway Path to Dalmeny. The fingers don't feel so nippy in the afternoon. From Dalmeny, it is back to Edinburgh via Cramond Brig and the cycle route through Barnton, the Blackhall and Roseburn Paths.

Not a long or fast Spokes Ride, but better than sitting on the sofa.

The route of the short Spokes Ride can be seen at Relive here.
