Waiting for a coffee
Not them, me! After waiting for Waxwings to come to me for a couple of months I made the effort to track them down. Fortunately it was the easiest birdwatching I have ever done. It involved me sitting in a well known purveyor of coffee establishment, gazing over a few feet of pavement towards a heavily berry ladened tree, then waiting several minutes until a flock of these spectacular looking birds dropped by! The photograph does not do them justice as I was looking towards the sun and got distracted by a civilian asking me what I was looking at. After explaining and getting my binoculars from my car so that he could have a closer look the Waxwings took flight and it was time for me to go.
I am extremely happy to have seen them and will hopefully get better views yet before they head back to Scandinavia sometime towards the end of March-ish.
