Mask or No Mask?

The answer is mask obviously, the pavements in Holt are way too narrow and often have a spread from the shop onto the pavement, so social distancing is impossible. As you can see, some people choose not to wear a mask unfortunately outside the shops (I guess about 60%). I was intrigued by what was in the window above Benbows. I'd had to go into town for a number of things, including using my new credit card to activate it. My credit card company replaced my existing one with no reason given, when I queried it I was told it was likely that I'd used it locally where some fraud had happened or at an online shop subject to fraud (rather than an issue with my account). This afternoon I had to change my credit card details at the 4 accounts online it's registered with (that I could remember). So really good anti fraud procedures, but it took most of the day one way or another to sort out, not least remembering rarely used passwords!

Many congratulations to Coronation Street which turns 60 today and is the world's longest-running tv soap. I've been particularly enjoying the return to more character driven plots due to the pandemic restrictions.

Day 269 / Day 8 of the 3 Tiers v2 (for my record only)
UK deaths up 533 to 62,566 (revised basis), with 16,578 new cases, 15,254 patients in hospital and 1,272 on ventilation. New cases by specimen date are already showing an uptick a week after a continuous fall due to lockdown, London being of particular concern. Two NHS staff experienced anaphylactoid reactions to the vaccine yesterday and as a result UK regulators have warned people who have a history of significant allergic reactions to medicines, food or vaccines (like the 2 staff members did) not to have the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine. The trial was of 44,000 volunteers, so no trial can cover all possible situations and health conditions, although I'd have thought this obvious risk would have been assessed. They said on R4 that the body's immune system will react to stray RNA, as used in this vaccine. Canada approved this vaccine for use today. There has been a cyber attack on the European Medicines Agency which evaluates vaccines and medicines, it is not known if it was successful. Sky News' Kay Burley has been taken off air for breaking restrictions whilst celebrating her 60th birthday, 3 colleagues have also been taken off air.
