BLACK-THROATED DIVER

I was having a very glum day, but made myself go out this dark afternoon for a  very chilly walk around the Marina and watched this bird fishing. When I looked in the book later I found it's a Black-throated Diver (Gavia arctica), winter immature plumage (it says). It exactly matches the photo in the book (apart from quality, due to the bad light), so I hope the ID is correct. Anyway, it cheered me up because I've never knowingly seen one before. And then a choir friend who moved away last year turned up to hand-deliver a Christmas card, so we had a bit of catch-up from either end of the garden path.
