The Murmuration

After hearing from S about the starling murmuration at Fairburn Ings, I met up for a bracing walk with mum and dad. 

We struck lucky!   

We timed our walk quite carefully so we knew we'd be in the vicinity.  What we didn't know was that we'd have a display over our heads for much of it and a funnelling descent of starlings right in front of our noses as they dropped down to roost in the reeds.

I spotted this hedgehog in the sky as it was transforming - if I don't find another, I think this will be my #GiveUsASmile pareidolia entry.  I'm sure that hedgehog is smiling and even if it's not, I am!

A lovely outing and an even nicer catch up.
