Wind rose
probably better known as compass rose.
On my hike today I passed a "Hofreite" of over 200 years. One of the chimneys was covered by a compass rose, with a man with a plough pulled by two horses show the direction of the wind.
A Hofreite is a kind of courtyard, usually of a farmer, with the main building, outbuildings, garden and dung heap surrounding an enclosed courtyard at three or four sides.
The entrance port had a little equestrian on top. Perhaps because "reite" sounds like "Reiter" (rider), although both words are not related.
