Today was a day for putting the Christmas tree up and then sitting by the fire sewing and listening to podcasts and ‘a book at bedtime’ except it wasn’t bed time. My son recommended the current choice read by Andrew Scott. He has a wonderful Irish lilt and if I listened at bedtime I would be asleep in no time! The book was ‘Portrait of the Artist as a young man’ which I attempted to study for A level many years ago, before podcasts or audio books and I never really understood it then. However 45 years on I am doing a bit better.

My sewing is very absorbing and although it will probably end up in a cupboard when it’s finished I am finding it very relaxing.
