Walking Tour #6
As some of you may know, I have a love-hate relationship with the Lensbaby optics and lenses. I have always admired and been intrigued by the beautiful work that others are able to capture, but my own work....not so much. But I continue to try.
This week, Lensbaby, had a free 3-day live conference on Facebook and I was able to watch a lot of it. Some of the most well-known Lensbaby artists each gave talks and had recordings of their photo sessions showing how they work. It was so inspiring, and I pulled mine out to give them another try. I have decided to keep a Lensbaby on one of my spare cameras at all times so I will use them more often.
My husband and I went on another of his well-researched walking tours in D.C. This time we were looking at historical and interesting buildings in the "east end" near the Capital One Center, but we parked in the west end and had to go past the White House, which wasn't easy. In addition to the usual roads that are closed to traffic, there was an additional perimeter of several blocks of closed roads, to pedestrians as well as automobiles, so we had to take some very long detours getting to and from the east end. In addition, nearly every storefront was boarded up. Finally, we asked one of the police officers what was going on and he explained that there was to be a bit Pro-Trump Rally on Saturday and they were just trying to get ahead of the game.
This walk that we took is one that we have taken hundreds of times as we would walk to the many restaurants in the east end and also to many sporting events. This time, we stopped and actually looked at some of the very interesting and historical buildings that we had never noticed before. This was meant to be therapeutic for both of us and I do think my husband really enjoyed it, but I was surprised how depressed I felt at the end of it. I was so saddened by going by all the restaurants that we have eaten in over the years and the wonderful times we have had and now they are all closed and some may never reopen again. It was such a sad reminder of how the world has changed and how it may never be the same.
Well, enough of that!
This is a shot of a winter cabbage that I saw along our walk. It was taken with a Lensbaby Sol 45 and except for a slight crop and a little contrast, it is SOOC. I thought it might be suitable for Flower Friday.
