The Old Lady of Brighton
It's been a beautiful day and I've made the most of it! This morning, Alan and I went to Seaford and walked the full length of the beach and back which was about 3 miles, it was lovely, and not too busy. Some brave people were swimming in the sea, I don't know how they do it!
Home in time for Alan to watch the F1 qualifying while I prepared a curry for tonight, and then I caught the bus into Brighton to meet up with Louise, Marianna and Amanda for low tide, sunset and the murmuration. We met at the West Pier and it was absolutely stunning, and even though it wasn't one of the lowest tides, the reflections were lovely. We walked along the beach to Palace Pier, and met a young couple dressed as a Christmas Tree and Mrs Clause. We took some photos of them, which I've promised to send them, and after getting some sunset reflection shots we went up on the pier to watch the starlings dance.
There were lots of birds but it was quite breezy and they were flying quite low tonight, so there weren't any spectacular shapes, but they were still amazing to watch, and very therapeutic. We got very cold, but it was worth it and after they'd roosted we went and sat outside to have a glass of wine at the Sunset Bar on the pier. The bar is in the middle of the pier and luckily there were tables outside on the other side of the building so we were sheltered from the wind, and there was an outside heater so we were fine. We asked what we had to eat to have a drink, and they said they were doing 'bottomless chips' for £1.50, so that's what we had - a glass of Malbec and a plate of chips, perfect!
Alan picked me up at 5.30pm and we headed home for date night in the Palace - normally it's Friday night, but as I was out last night, it was moved to tonight :-)
Happy Saturday!
