Exploding books
I've been making exploding books today. When I'm developing a new print I always end up with lots of proofs and slightly flawed prints. Rather than throw them away I'm trying to give them a new lease of life by turning them into 'exploding books' - when you open them up the pages burst out in different directions. This first one uses up the scraps from a series of lino prints I made a few years ago depicting different types of fossil creatures. The exploding book is rather difficult to photograph but hopefully you get the idea. The covers, which you can't see here, are made from prints of Ginko tree leaves. I'm quite pleased with this first one so I've planned a couple more - the first on fungi and the second on great crested newts.
