Quick pic trip

Had some friends arrive from out of town unexpectedly (they live a few miles away) and ended up spending my afternoon visiting with them (outside with masks on!) instead of my planned leisurely nature walk for photos. Sundown was at 5:32 and I left the house at 4:45 to drive down to an area where I hoped to get some quick pictures. I managed to get a few and created today’s collage. Top left is a great egret at the top of a tree… Not sure if you can make it out, but his right leg is pulled up into his chest. Top right is a pileated woodpecker with nothing between him and me! Bottom left is actually a little Blueheron… I noticed this morning that I had called a tricolor heron a little blue in a previous entry. Glad to have The opportunity to post the correct identification. Finally, bottom right, is a relatively shy pair of hooded mergansers… I needed them to be closer than they wanted to be. Still beautiful ducks.
