Jesse Tree

With all the COVID restrictions it has been challenging to keep Sunday School active throughout the pandemic. Our youth leader and the volunteer Sunday school team have been doing lots online and, for the older age group, we have recently managed fortnightly face to face meetings.

As Christmas nears and we are still under restrictions, the traditional events such as the candlelit and Christingle services have been shelved. We are having a family service next Sunday with some Christingle elements but again the number of families can be only a few.

So to keep the children engaged, Hillary, our youth leader, came up with the idea of a Jesse tree which traditionally shows the family tree leading from Jesse, the father of King David, to Christ.

The modern version has symbols of the Christmas story hung on its branches. To meet the COVID restrictions this outilne of the tree is inside and the drawings the children made are stuck onto the glass outside. It looks as if it will be well decorated by Christmas.
