Six seconds ...
... was all we saw of the sun today. It wasn't so bad, we were treated to three bursts of two seconds each and I was ready with my camera! We picked the dog up first thing (she'd gone to her sitters) and headed straight for a reservoir walk just as it started to snow. It was magical.
We had a ball at the Heaven 17 gig. Buxton Opera House is small and beautiful, and they blasted it. Everyone started off with their bums firmly wedged in the velvet seats, but half way through the first song, two of us upped and dashed to the back to dance ourselves giddy for the rest of the gig. Everyone was up by the second song and even MrP broke in to an energetic sway! Apparently all those 80s dance moves remain in the muscle memory, who knew?
Their closing encore included an stripped-down slowed-up version of The Associates song "Party Fears Two". It was the song they'd chosen to keep alive Billy Mackenzie's memory at a tribute concert. It was supremely moving. Glenn Gregory, what a voice. Brilliant night.
Down the pub, the landlord found out a mosaic he thought I'd sold, wasn't. He bought it! I've mentioned my rubbish writing before, he read 'gold' on my description of materials on the tag as 'sold'. We'll be having hot food tonight (a gag the bookshop owner makes when he's had a good day!).
