Wildlife Conservation Raft
I've been trying to photograph this raft and its accompanying sign throughout the summer but it is only since the rushes have been cut back and the Relief Channel water level has risen that it has been possible to capture the two together.
The text on the notice reads: "This raft is used in the fight to protect native wildlife from invasive American mink, and especially to save the water vole (Ratty of Wind in the Willows) from extinction. Mink also eat kingfishers, sand martins and fish. The raft is electronically monitored 24/7. A local team member will attend as soon as the trap door closes. Mink are extremely dangerous, so please do not allow children or dogs to approach the trap. This project is supported by local internal drainage boards, Natural England, The Environment Agency and Conservation Charities."
A lovely day today. The kitchen installation is progressing and it was great to get back to our heavily policed river.
