Dayblind Stars

Favourite words for the magic that's always there but out of sight.
An early start to drop the van at the garage afforded Missy & Me the opportunity to wander into Borrowdale in the only dry bit of the day.
The blue sky is a red herring in a metaphorically mixed sort of a way. We played a whiles, but everywhere was more upland wetland that mountain meadow, so lots of chasing the ball down the conveniently angled track.

Finally put the spare room back together, not that anyone can visit, but it's another layer of normality.

Then this evening a call from an acquaintance with the sad sad news of a colleague's sudden and unexpected passing. I'll always remember Steve's ready laugh and quiet confidence. We didn't work together much or in any great way, but it was always easy and right. Only a few years older than me, gone far too soon.
RIP Steve, I'm very glad to have known you, travel well.
