So, Dave returned earlier than expected from his first day of Jury Service . It turns out that today was about doing the paperwork for the individual jurors, he isn’t required back until Thursday . He was happy with the health and safety provision to keep them all safe from each other which is a relief . It’s easy to be careless with other people’s lives . I think he will be excellent as a juror ,he has wide experience of working with people whose lives have got off to a bad start. As we know , most people who end up in court have a complex back story . He is also good a sifting through information and incredibly nit picking about the small details , he is confident about questioning evidence and will sniff out “bullshit “ a mile off . I hope he actually gets to sit on some cases , all this effort could come to nothing .

Anyway , his early return meant that we all got a walk in the woods before we returned our Little Boy Blue .

This morning, LBB and I watched a small group of starlings pecking at the fat balls in our garden . This is the first season we have ever seen them up here . They were common visitors to our garden in Leicester but their numbers have declined over the years . I’m hoping that this is a sign that the population is growing again .
We also had a robin , wren, blackbird, 2 pigeons and a magpie . These won’t seem rich pickings to some but our garden has been fairly barren of bird life for the 25 yrs we have lived here despite our efforts. I am thrilled and LBB was enthralled .
Covid creeps ever closer , a family friend with a young family has just had a spell  in hospital , he is a teacher at one school and his children attend another school .
My heart goes out to all the school staff,  , they have been frontline workers from the outset but whatever they do it is never enough.
I hope and pray that all of yours stay safe and well and that there are happenings in your day that make you smile . Xx
