Llyn Brianne

Llyn Brianne is a man-made lake or reservoir in the headwaters of the River Tywi in central Wales.
The reservoir was constructed in the late 1960s and early 1970s to regulate the flow in the River Tywi to support large potable water abstraction at Nantgaredig; the treated water is piped to a large area of South Wales up to the borders of Cardiff.
Under the reservoir there are a couple of houses, which were flooded to make way for the water reservoir. Before the water level was raised, it was possible to walk to Fannog farmhouse as a "For Sale" sign was once erected on it. It is still possible to see the top of the house when the water levels are low.
We went looking at possible houses in Wales. An old water mill at Talybony-on-Usk looked promising but was a bit of a let down; the only upside being it was very close to a fabulous pub, a plot of land and a project with two barns to convert were also discarded. Venturing further than we really wanted we found a house with a one bed holiday let and an unconverted baptist chapel attached and views; well as Jane said it made her heart sing. The vendor is moving to Winchester!!! What a small world.
This was taken just down the road with my iPhone so the quality may not be great but believe me the views here are stunning.
