The day Teacher got struck by lightning
Sorry, I just had to blip this! It's so awful!
Every six months I teach aromatherapy for a couple of hours to a group of Japanese University students who are learning English. After the session, in which the students learn hand massage, and make a lotion to their own requirements, there is compulsory posing for photographs. Today there were only nine cameras. It's an awful lot of smiling.
This afternoon we were in a wonderful building owned by the Cheltenham Civic society, which they have restored, and can be hired on a room by room basis. The backdrop shows the dome of the Rotunda, a Cheltenham landmark from previous centuries. I think it used to be a bank building but is now a restaurant or wine bar. It is a very Japanese custom, these very highly posed photographs. But, as you can see, I look like a complete lemon, wondering what to do with my hands as I haven't got a lotion; wondering how many more cameras there are to go; completely unaware that I am being struck by lightning!
I also like the strange assortment of skinny black legs, and wonder what a visitor to our planet would make of it all.
All in all, a deeply surreal day, seeing as in the morning I was escorting children on brief trips to Antarctica and discussing changes to the timetable! These changes will result in my having dedicated time to spend setting up the hall for play sessions, and specific time to spend one to one with a student with challenging behaviour while the other students are having lunch. We will be allowed to go outside, too. This is good news. It sounds a lot better than multi tasking, which has never been my strong point.
Happy weekend, blippers!
