Chaperoning
Sophie invited us to chaperone her class on their ski de fond (cross country skiing) trip, conveniently on the last day before winter break. Spencer had a sort of embassy-diplomacy gig at the high school (pretty cool, they're planning on doing creating an exchange with the high school here and Park City High in Utah because Park City and Courchevel are sister-cities; Spencer had to welcome the Americans this morning) that rendered him unable to chaperone this outing. Nick was able to come though, and it was his first time on ski de fond. While I was the picture of grace and poise on my skis (ha!), he fell a few times. Honestly, we both arrived at going down hill, turning, and stopping by the end of the day. The kids were experts and showed us how to do it. There were two other schools that went and they organized races, a border-cross, biathlon, and a petite promenade at the end of the day. This is a picture from one of the races. Voila.
