Polish pottery

Every year we try to pick up one or two Polish pottery ornaments. This one is this year's addition. This is only second year when I found any of them sporting bright red.

I keep thinking about something Paul, my meditation retreat teacher, said. "You must fiercely protect your joy." He didn't mean we should be self-centered, detached, or selfish, but that we have a responsibility to choose how we let the world, and people in it, affect us. Has my hanging on every Washington DC disgrace of 2020 affected anything, other than my levels of anxiety and depression? Doesn't seem so.
