2180. Battle of Stalingrad Medal
Another medal for my hubby to add to his collection of militaria....this one was awarded to a Russian soldier for defending Stalingrad during the Second World War. There were some 800,000 of these medals issued and none of them were named. The state of the ribbon suggests that the veteran wore this medal as it has been carefully stitched to the clasp.
Helped my youngest to make up his treat hampers for the family and they all look lovely so he’s well pleased...
Also had a bizarre email from a friend after she received her Christmas presents sent via Royal Mail, which had been opened and the wrapping paper ripped open then dumped into a bag with a letter saying that the “dangerous and prohibited “ items had been removed....except that the presents were all still there...just ripped open?
