Spekboom

This plant is indigenous to the Eastern Cape, easy to grow, and water wise so ideal for our drought conditions.
It also improves the quality of air we breathe as it absorbs carbon from the atmosphere. It is a favourite food of elephants.
I have a few of these plants in my garden - people are encouraged to grow them in their gardens. 
Today is a public holiday and the beaches and picnic places are usually packed with people enjoying the sunshine. But with the new strict restrictions everywhere is deserted. Police have been patrolling to make sure the no beach, no picnicking policy is adhered to...,tough times.
