Applications & an empty desk

Today was mainly about the gradually dwindling pile of applications on my desk (which haven't dwindled fast enough), the influx of new applications which crashed our email server causing applicants & staff much anger & irritation....and reflections on the empty desk of a much missed friend & colleague which put everything else into perspective.
