Lapwing
Out walking the dogs today when I was wishing that I had taken the bigger lens.
These birds not only fly around at what seems like 90 mph but were not that close either.
No sooner had the thought passed when a hare popped up right under Flynn and Tillys feet and off they went in hot pursuit with me running hopelessly trying to step on Maya's drag line as she started to follow.
Luckily turned to follow me when I decided it was hopeless and tried running in the opposite direction calling her in an over excited voice. The other two went out of sight for a while but returned fairly promptly. I was glad I had just taken the smaller Tamron lens even if the results could have been better!
A bit of Lapwing info for those of you that are interested.
Also known as the peewit in imitation of its display calls, its proper name describes its wavering flight. Its black and white appearance and round-winged shape in flight make it distinctive, even without its splendid crest. This familiar farmland bird has suffered significant declines in the last 25 years and is an 'Amber List' species because of the importance of its UK wintering population.
