In full flower

My morning shopping turned into a beautiful trip when, on the (short) drive home, a Spanish Chestnut tree (Castanea sativa) was spied in full festive dress. It is a sizeable, aged tree with a finely shaped canopy. The flowers are discreet but the sight of them rising and falling as the breeze touched them was wonderful. Imagine this photo magnified xxxxx times....wow!
