On-Line Delivery
For me, a daily journal on Blipfoto is in part about recording how the times change as we move through the months and years.
So it is worth capturing how our shopping experience has changed in 2020.
Shielding from March 24th ( the formal end of the shielding regime in August hasn’t changed our approach at all) has meant a complete transformation in how we do everything.
268 days on from the start of the first lockdown I have only been twice to a shop - our local pharmacy, Sometimes I feel personally responsible for the decline of the High Street, and guilty for contributing to Jeff Bezoz’s mushrooming fortune.
Thursday morning is food delivery morning, and Ocado has seen us through these last 9 months. There has however been a major hiccup, Our slot for the Christmas week vanished without our knowledge in October when Ocado put all slots on the market in October and they all went in 5 hours. So we had a panic moment when we learnt what had happened 2 weeks ago. Fortunately the cavalry has come to our rescue in the shape of our eldest niece, who is the only family member who lives in “the North”. So next week the shopping list will go to our niece, and the delivery will be from Chester.
Today’s order was bigger than usual, we are trying to minimise our shop next week to lessen the ask on our niece. Sorting out these bags is always a big exercise, everything is washed. For many our approach may seem over the top or extreme, but in “ shielding mode” it’s just how it is.
