“Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost”
I went for another early morning ‘wander’ near where I was parked at the campsite. I’ve been here at the Cirencester site several times and only just discovered this path cut into the nearby field. I was calling it a maze but actually it’s a labyrinth, not a maze, as it has a long continuous path. While there are plenty of twists and turns, there are no dead-ends, and you can’t get lost. This field is part of the campsite. I’m not sure if it’s been here awhile or whether it’s new. But I’ve enjoyed wandering along it the last two mornings and I’ve included a screen shot of the satellite view as well as my walk mapped out on one of my apps!
(There’s a bonus prize for those who know the source of the quote in my title!)
The sun was shining brightly by mid morning and I actually got to sit outside the van for a few minutes to enjoy a cup of tea and some breakfast. Sadly it didn’t last long, but it’s really not very cold for December! I had bought some extra warm bedding for my winter camping trip and I got way too hot last night! You can see I now have thermal screens up at all the windows which will help keep things warm when it really does get cold. I’d really like to use Alfie the Campervan all year round!
I left the site by late morning and I had several stops along the way home, mostly to pick up click and collect orders for some Christmas or personal shopping. One stop was in Cirencester itself and the rest in Reading.
But my BEST stop on the way home was with these terrific people who live in Swindon, right on my way home. Many in blip-land will recognise them as the world-famous Mr and Mrs Honeycombebeach! I often visit them as I’m passing Swindon along the M4. Because of current Covid-rules we stayed outside today but thankfully it was sunny and not very cold. I was treated to a hot cup of coffee and a couple of warm mince pies. I only stayed an hour which is hardly long enough because we always have lots to talk about! But we did eventually get chilly and I had more errands to run before getting home. So I wished them a Happy Christmas (no hugs) and went on my way. It’s always a delight to see them, even for a short visit.
You can read Mrs HCB’s very silly writeup of my visit here, including a very silly view from their side of the table!
