Winter Dusk
Of course I was drawn to photograph the light reflecting on the water and ice. It's hard to avoid when presented with the opportunity. I think that the band of colour, contained as it is in the central third, would alone make the image appealing. Having a line of ice, echoed by that of the cloud, along with subtle gradations, reflections and mistiness in the distant trees, serve to add something a little extra.
I fiddled with aperture, trying to get enough sharpness to avoid focus stacking, because I was already bracketing for exposure. In the low light, a slight softness only adds to the mood.
