Chinese and English
Yesterday I blipped about Lily's recent successes with reading... English. As she did her Chinese homework today, I laughed to myself a bit. I realize that she has been a reader for months now, but in Mandarin Chinese. English is spoken at our home, but she is in her 3rd year of Chinese school, and only in her first year (kindergarten) of regular school. On this page of homework, she has to read the Chinese above and match to the English below. Up until a few weeks ago, she would read the Chinese sentences herself and I would have to read the English sentences to her until she found the right one. Now she can do the whole page independently, though with more effort still on the English. I am curious to see when her skills in reading English will surpass those in reading Chinese.
