Blue Christmas

We were on high alert this morning looking for another visit from Mr. Cooper, the Hawk. Although neither of us spotted him I think he made his presence known because I witnessed numerous songbirds go motionless in the lilacs again. Even when I stepped out the door to peruse the sky and trees they did not budge. Like inanimate objects, ornaments in a tree. It’s the strangest sight. Thankfully it only lasted for five minutes or so • While out to mail some cards we stopped at The Boat Landing to look around. Even with the swift current most of the river was covered with ice, but an open area was being enjoyed by a group of mallards. It was great to see an eagle perched high in a tree on the opposite side surveying his domain • Last night we watched The Homecoming. Tonight is Little Women. I also made stuffed peppers for dinner. A cozy end to the weekend • Light snow falling too.
