Bybee Lake Wetlands

We live on a peninsula formed by the convergence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers. There is quite a bit of marshy land, two good sized lakes (Smith and Bybee), a slough that runs east all the way through the peninsula and past the airport, and a lot of land that was drained and is full of industrial warehouses, including a huge Amazon one. We walked along a trail near Bybee lake this morning with Eric's niece and great-niece. We meandered along for almost 3 hours and saw a good number of birds and this tree some beaver felled fairly recently. So amazing that they figured out gnawing down a big tree serves their purposes. I hope they can always find enough trees to use.
