Thankful
I bought this ‘Thankful’ sign around Thanksgiving time last year in the US. I’ve had it sitting on the mantle for all of 2020 as it’s been a great reminder that I have so much to be thankful for, even in a really awful year. I think it’s going to stay there for quite a bit longer.
The stocking hangers are a new purchase and they arrived this afternoon, several days before I expected them. I had the fireplace done last year and the mantle put up just before last Christmas so I wasn’t organised enough then to hang stockings. This is the first time I’ve been able to hang up stockings at Christmas since I lived in the US in the late 80s/early 90s and had a fireplace there. These stockings aren’t that old - I got them a few years ago in the hopes that one day I’d have somewhere to hang them!
I know it’s a big ask. There’s really only one of me. Will Santa fill them both??
In other news:
It rained most of the day today. I tried to get some things done at home. It’s the last day of us being in Tier 2 - the last of being able to have a guest to visit in our own private gardens. So a friend came over this evening and we exchanged Christmas gifts. The rain had finally stopped. I made a delicious broccoli and Stilton soup (first time) in my new soup maker. It was a big success and we both had seconds and finished it off. I made a fire in my fire-pit and even brought my little Christmas tree outside and plugged it into my outside power. It felt very festive.
