Waiting For Christmas.......
As our church waits for the coming celebration of Christmas this week, we were blessed this morning in the traditional music service by the singing of the Chambers family. I was not familiar with the song they sang, but their harmonies were so beautiful---and I also got to hear the rehearsal---so I got an extra blessing!, Then, as we joined our hearts and minds with those who had enjoyed the contemporary music, our interim pastor, Dr. David Smith, spoke to us about two characters from the Bible, that we don't often think too much about, Simeon and Anna and how when they encountered Mary and Joseph and the baby, Jesus, they recognized Him as the Messiah they had been waiting for. He pointed out that one thing we could learn from Simeon's story is that God keeps His promises, because God had promised Simeon that he would not die before he had seen the Messiah and that promise was fulfilled that day in the temple. He also told us that what we could learn from Anna's story, because she was always in the temple is that doing what God asks of us faithfully, puts us in a position to be blessed as Anna was when she encountered the baby, Jesus, with Mary and Joseph in the temple that same day.......Are you waiting for Christmas like Simeon and Anna were? Will you recognize it when it comes, as they did?
