Fruiting slime mould

Mrs P spotted this bright patch on a tree stump. Close up, we could see tiny spheres that are fruiting bodies of a slime mould. I'm not sure the colour is right; certainly not as I remember it.

For the first time on Kinnoull Hill we met someone else collecting litter. We suspected there must be others, and it was quite uplifting to have it confirmed. Even better, he said he was a climber and descended some of the slopes that I daren't tackle. By coincidence we met two other people who thanked as and said that they picked up litter too.
