An ordinary life....

The Bold Boy...

Meet Boycie :-))

Boycie is very much loved and very much pampered (makes Lola look like Cinderella) by his owner, our good friend Gill and her husband Jimmy.

David and Lola meet Jimmy and Boycie up on the moor regularly for walks and Boycie (younger than Lola) has always been the perfect gentleman (or should I say gentledog :-) until about two weeks ago when he suddenly saw his pal Lola in a new vision of blonde loveliness light.  Hormones must be kicking in.

Anyway, Boycie fancied a bit of Lola action and made some tentative steps to woo her, which she was having none of and soon put him in his place.  Still, fortune favours the brave, and when they met up again last week Boycie thought it was worth checking if Lola had changed her mind and fallen for his infinite charms.  She hadn't, and Boycie was taken home in disgrace and disappointment.  I mean look at that wee face.  If that's not the image of rejected dejection I don't know what is!

Anyway, he's stepped up his game and sent her a Christmas card.  I showed it to her and she attempted to chew it, so not sure she's that impressed.  Think you'll have to look for your thrills elsewhere Boycie.

In other news, our best friends Agnes and Adrian were in touch to say last Monday, the day before he was due to get the Covid-19 vaccine, Adrian tested positive for the virus!  (Adrian's works for the NHS)  How's that for luck?!!!   Thankfully his symptoms are mild (mainly very tired) and he will finish quarantining tomorrow.

He's been confined to upstairs and Agnes (who's had to quarantine too but has thankfully tested negative) is living in a cold house (every window open) and washing the place down with dettol almost constantly.  She's also sleeping on the sofa and cursing the fact she turned their spare bedroom into a craft room! :-)  Not sure what will happen re. his vaccination now.  Will check with him tomorrow.

I am even happier now that tighter restrictions have been put in place.

Had a lovely chat on the phone with my step dad John this evening.  He and Norma are having Christmas on their own and I am pleased about that.  I was worried they may be persuaded to go to Norma's daughter's for dinner on Christmas day.  She has three grandchildren, one at secondary school, one at uni and one working.  I thought the risks were too great so I am happy that everyone is being sensible.  I just can't believe we've only seen them twice this year.  Fingers crossed we will see much more of them (and everyone else) next year.

And now, before bed, I am hoping to have a little blip time as well as check the recipes for the oatcakes and white chocolate and cranberry fudge I am hoping to make tomorrow.  The first of the homemade festive dishes.  They last up to three weeks so will make them tomorrow to give me more free time on Christmas Eve.

3 sleeps!
