Stars of Bethlehem

We grew up calling agapanthus 'Stars of Bethlehem'. Perhaps it was because they always flowered at Christmas time. All the rain we have had has resulted in very tall Stars of Bethlehem this year. The ones in our front garden are about 4 ft tall (1.2m).

When the flowers die off we have to cuts the heads off and put them in our everyday waste bin, not our green bin, because they are considered an environmental pest. If we are caught by Council for not doing so we can be fined. So, we will be very careful to separate out the seed heads but in the meantime we are enjoying the lovely flowers.
