Red Tailed Hawk
I spent a delightful morning at Huntley Meadows where there was a lot of activity: bluebirds, kingfishers, Great Blue Herons, a very elusive Clapper Rail and a couple of Ruby-Crowned Kinglets. Late morning, as I was back in the parking lot, I spotted this hawk nearby in a tree. It just sat there most of the time, but for a brief moment it repositioned itself, ruffled its feathers and I got this shot.
It was very cold, but I was pleased that I had finally dressed appropriately, with hand warmers in my pockets. There were many more photographers than usual, I suspect quite a few were off from work in these days preceding the holiday.
This was just what my soul needed today.
