Amazing ice!
Passed something similar to this on Thursday but couldn't stop the car to take a picture. Couldn't believe I got another chance - the same phenomenon but at a completely different place! I think it may look better 'large'.
It reminded me of beautiful ice caves, like those at Kungar up in the Ural Mountains in Russia.
By pure coincidence, in the news yesterday was an article about the melting of Siberian permafrost. Not 'new' news but definitely bad news.
Update: Oh dear! My husband has informed me that 'SV' means 'soil vent', which is where gases are released from underground. He said the ice is probably frozen steam from a sewer! Nice. 8-/
