Decorations Old & New, Part 1
Christmas is a great time for emergency blips! So here’s a Christmas show and tell!
THIS decoration is old, though certainly not the oldest on my tree! It would be easy to assume that this is Dolly. But in fact, this is my mother’s previous poodle, and her name really WAS Angel! I think I got this decoration for my mum one year and put the picture in it.
Angel came into our home just a few months before I left home and moved to the US in 1983. She always remembered me when I came back to visit. And then in 1992 I came back to live in the UK and moved back in with my mum for awhile (I guess I was a ‘boomerang kid’!). Angel was a lovely little dog with a personality quite different to Dolly’s. We were all heartbroken when it was obvious one Christmas that she wouldn’t be with us much longer, and she died on Boxing Day, aged 13. I’m so glad I have several little reminders of her around the house, including this decoration that comes out every year.
In other news:
It was a grey and wet day. I worked a bit on the puzzle I started a few weeks ago. I’d had to put it to one side while I used my big table for wrapping presents. I also spent a lot of time watching the news on and off - it was quite amazing to hear about the borders closing all over Europe and beyond to anything from the UK, in light of the new strain of Covid and our subsequent lockdowns. What a mess!
